Privacy, and using the figures

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. We do not run analytics, set cookies or keep server logs of our own. If we ever add anything that counts visits, this page will say so before it starts.

What your own browser remembers

Two small things, kept in your browser’s local storage so the site picks up where you left off:

• the last place you looked at on the Atlas, and
• the last municipality you chose in the property tax estimator.

They never leave your device. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

Services that see your request

As with any website, some companies handle your request to load a page and so see your IP address:

Cloudflare

hosts the site and protects it from attacks. Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Google Fonts

serves the two typefaces. How Google Fonts handles data.

jsDelivr

serves the open-source code that draws the globe and the Kingston map. jsDelivr’s privacy policy.

Using the figures

Every figure comes from a public body and keeps its source. Property tax and spending come from the Ontario Financial Information Return: contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Ontario. Population, income and housing are adapted from Statistics Canada under the Statistics Canada Open Licence; this does not constitute an endorsement by Statistics Canada of this product. Kingston’s zoning, permits and maps contain information licensed under the Open Data Licence – City of Kingston.
